The Bear

The Bear, is a short story by William Faulkner. It is about a bear who has avoided death by the group of hunters who try to kill it. I believe that the bear is a shows us the failures after failures of humans. I believe this because it shows what a small group of hunters couldn't do and that was to kill the bear. Every time they had gotten close, the bear escaped and came back sooner or later. This shows that their failures and the failures of the human race will always come back to haunt them. I believe that this is true, a human but not just a human but all things need to overcome their failures and challenges.

Winter Dreams

Winter Dreams, a story about a boy and a girl as they grow up. The man loves the girl, but she doesn't love him back. This man, Dexter Green, loves the girl named Judy Jones. When Dexter is 32, he learns from his business associate, Devlin, that Judy has lost her beauty and is married to an abusive man. Dexter is disappointed in this outcome and cries. I believe that Dexter's dream of being able to love someone forever and having them love you back will never happen in real life. This is because sooner or later, your love will fade away and you will want to be more isolated or in love with someone else. Dexter's belief is one that isn't wrong but inconsistent. Some people might love each other forever but there are more that will start loving someone else more.

Sophistication

    Sophistication, a short story by Sherwood Anderson, is about a man named George Willard who loves a woman named Helen White who also loves him. I believe that George made himself look stupid when he kept boasting about one thing after another to Helen just so he could make himself look good. Also he was made to look stupid when he started to walk to Helen's home and barge in and sit there. He also said he will say he wants to see her. He says this over and over again until he sees Helen. This makes him look stupid, but Helen would overlook this because she loves him. It seems to me at first that both of them are blinded by love, but it actually is love that both of the people can give back.

     I feel like this love can exist but it is very rare because in our time, people love because of looks more than  personality. There are lucky couples who love each other for their personalities before looks. There are a lot of break-ups and broken hearts in our time as a high school as we are experimenting with love to see who we would fit in with yet George and Helen feel for each other and wish that the other will always be in good condition and they can live together for a long time. Also i believe that George and Helen understand each other to be able to have a good connection and relationship.

Ted Talk

Tavi, a sophomore girl at the time, had created her own blog, website, and magazine. She created these to help other girls in life. She would then have a  Ted Talk for this. I saw that Tavi made her own PowerPoint consisting of slides that she made from MS Paint. This to me was an amusing way of showing her creativity. This creativity caught the audience's attention which was what she needed to show off what she has done over the time span that she made her stuff in. I feel like Tavi is a really convincing speaker because she somehow gets the audience to laugh and keep on watching what she is doing every slide. She thinks that woman are complicated which i would agree with, but everyone no matter what gender, race, height, length, etc. are complicated and not just women.
